What is RCS messaging?
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the next-generation messaging protocol defined by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), designed to replace traditional SMS/MMS. It supports features like read receipts, typing indicators, high-resolution images, carousels, suggested replies, and buttons — much like WhatsApp or iMessage, but through the phone’s default messaging app. Read more about RCS messaging here.
What is an RCS agent?
An RCS agent is the verified business identity that sends and manages RCS messages. It represents your brand within the recipient's native messaging app — showing your name, logo, and colors — and acts as the sender of your rich, interactive messages.
Behind the scenes, the agent connects your brand’s messaging platform to mobile operators, making it possible to deliver images, buttons, and other interactive content directly in the conversation thread. In short, the RCS agent is your brand’s “voice” in RCS messaging.
Create one RCS agent per brand
If you have several brands, you’ll need to create a separate agent for each brand. This makes sure your messages appear with the correct brand name and logo.
If your company communicates in different regions, create an individual agent for each. This allows you to tailor message content, language, and campaigns to local needs, and ensures customers always receive messages from a trusted and recognizable sender.
How to enable RCS messaging in Voyado Engage
To use RCS messaging in Engage, you first need to register your RCS agent.
Voyado will help you request and register your agents with the correct mobile operator, enabling you to start sending messages with branded, verified sender details — and later, rich media capabilities as they become available
To provide this service, we need you to submit one registration form per market or brand.
The information you provide will be used for:
Registering your brand details with the relevant mobile operator
Creating and verifying your RCS agent with your brand’s name, logo, and contact details
Ensuring compliance with local requirements and operator guidelines
Configuring message routing so your RCS messages reach the correct audience in each market
