Adding a new Customer Engagement user

Customer Engagement users are those people in your organisation who can log in and access the system and data. Handling user accounts well is important when using Customer Engagement.

Before you get started, here are some things to be aware of:

  • Only existing users with the required permission will be able to add and administrate a user
  • New users should have their organization's domain in their email
  • Make sure the user is assigned to the correct permission group, as this determines which access rights the user has. You can read more about permission groups in this article.
  • Users can be granted access to all stores or their access can be limited to specific stores

How to add a user

In the Staging environment, you'll need to start by adding the email address to the allowlist.

Then follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Administration tab.
  2. At the top of the list, click Administrators.
  3. Click the green New Admin button in the top right corner.
  4. Fill in all the required details and assign the permission group and access level based on the user´s role.
  5. Click Save.

An invitation will automatically be sent to the new user. The link is valid for 7 days. In the list of administrators, you can see the current status of a user's account, which is based on the invitation. This status can be: invited, login to setup MFA, invite expired or active. If the invite has expired, a new invitation can be sent by clicking the three dots behind the user's account.

You'll need to add the user in both the Production and Staging environments.
