Smart pasting

A good message often combines content from several sources, and you normally need to copy that content into different fields in the Design Studio. Smart pasting helps you do this more efficiently. It interprets what you paste and places it in the right field.

Smart pasting is easy. Click an element once and use the standard keyboard shortcut (Cmd+V on Mac or Ctrl+V on Windows) to paste.

Don't click twice on a text element, and don't click into any field in the right panel.

Smart pasting interprets the content and tries to paste it into the right position. For example, try it on an image element:

  • Paste a web link to add it to the Link field.
  • Paste text to add it to the Alt text field.
  • Paste an image URL to add that image to the canvas (image files can't be pasted).
When you use smart pasting, it replaces all existing content in the element, for example in a text field or on the canvas. To paste only part of the text, click into the field and paste as usual.

When you design for several markets, you normally need to change links for each marketing group. Smart pasting detects when a link you paste matches a base URL and personalizes it for you. The Link field then looks like this:

When you send the message, we use the base URL from each marketing group.

To learn how to configure base URLs, see Setting up your marketing groups.
