What is the new Transaction & Article Star Schema?

The Transaction & Article Star Schema is a way of organizing data in a clear, structured format to make reporting and segmentation easier. Imagine a star with a bright center and rays extending outward—that’s how the data is arranged!

  • At the center is the main focus of your data, such as transactions, payment details.
  • Surrounding it are related details, like product information, store locations, or customer demographics.

This setup makes it much easier to pull useful insights from your data quickly.

Why is this transition important?

Switching to a Star Schema structure offers several benefits, including:

Faster Reports & Insights – Data is structured efficiently, so reports and queries run much faster. 

Easier Segmentation – Finding and filtering the right customers based on their behavior is simpler.

Clearer Data Organization – The structure prevents data confusion and makes it easier to maintain.

Scalability – As your business grows, the Star Schema helps handle larger amounts of data smoothly.

With the transition to the Star Schema, the way segmentation fields are categorized and selected has changed. The main improvement is the separation of article-related attributes from receipt line data, making it clearer where to find specific fields.

  • Previously, some article attributes (e.g., Brand, Category, Product Category) were accessible under Receipt line.
  • After the switch to Star Schema, these attributes are now correctly grouped under Article.
