A member signup is an onsite message that collects the information you need to turn a visitor into a member of your loyalty program. Compared to a newsletter signup, it asks for more details, such as name, phone number, and date of birth. This article walks you through creating one, from choosing the template to publishing it.
Create the message
- Go to Onsite > Messages (New) and select Create message.
- Select Member signup.
- Enter a Name and choose the Site the message should run on.
- Select Create. The message opens in the editor as a draft.
The flow starts with three steps: Minimized (the small widget on the page), Form (the membership form), and Message (the confirmation that's shown after the visitor signs up).
Choose the form fields
- Hover over the Form step and select the pen icon to open the design view.
- In the layers list, expand Form fields. The form can include Email, Phone number, Name, Social security number, Date of birth, and Address.
- Use the eye icon to show the fields your loyalty program needs and hide the rest.
- Select a field to change its label or mark it as required.
- Expand Consents and show the consents members need to give, for example to accept the member terms or receive email.
Every extra field makes the form longer to fill in. Ask only for the information your loyalty program actually uses.
Design the message
Replace the template's text on every step with your own, and adjust the design so it matches your brand. Select Minimized, Form, and Message in the step tabs at the top to switch between the steps. To learn more, see Design an onsite message.
Add a welcome reward
To welcome new members with an offer, turn on Reward in the settings panel and choose the reward type, for example Bonus points or a Multichannel promotion. To send a confirmation email, turn on Sendouts and select Enable confirmation sendout. Select Save in each panel.
Decide how existing members are handled
Some visitors who see your signup will already be contacts or members. In Display conditions, open More settings > Contact/member conditions to decide whether existing contacts and members can complete the form, and whether their marketing preferences are updated. You can also add a display condition based on Engage contact/member to show the signup only to visitors who aren't members yet.
If an existing member is stopped from finishing, they see the exception message for that case. To edit it, hover over Exceptions in the flow and select the gear icon.
Preview and publish
- Set the Start date in Scheduling.
- Select Preview and click through each step on both mobile and desktop.
- When everything works, select Schedule, or select the arrow next to it and choose Publish now.
