While we have conducted rigorous testing, beta features could contain issues, bugs, or glitches. Be prepared for occasional disruptions, and report any issues to help us at Voyado to refine the functionality of the app.
Once your brand voice and translation rules are set up in Config Hub, you can translate campaigns directly in Design Studio. Bonnie handles the translation for all your markets at once, applying your brand voice and glossary rules as it goes.
Before translating your campaign
If you haven't set up brand voice and translation rules yet, see Setting up Bonnie campaign translation before continuing.
Translate your campaign
- Create or open a campaign in Design Studio.
- Make sure you've added all the content you want to translate, including headlines, text, and CTAs.
- Click Translate in the top toolbar.
Choose your scope
A dialog will appear asking how you want to translate:
- All included markets: Translate your base content to all marketing group languages you have set up.
- Specific marketing group: Translate to only a specific market.
You can also choose Replace existing translations if you've translated before and want to retranslate everything, overwriting any manual edits you made.
Start the translation
Click Start translation. Bonnie will translate all your content, applying your brand voice and translation rules as it goes. The process may take a few minutes depending on how much content you have.
Review and refine
Once translation is complete, review the results. If you want to adjust something:
- Open the Bonnie chat.
- Ask for changes. For example:
- "Make this more formal for the German market"
- "Change 'promotion' to 'offer' in all translations"
- "Adapt it to the Gen Z audience"
Bonnie will update the translations in real time. You can ask follow-up questions and iterate until you're happy with the results.
Publish
Once your translations look good, publish your campaign as you normally would.
Manual edits stay in place
Once you manually edit a translation in a specific market, those edits won't be overwritten if you retranslate later. For example:
- You translate your campaign to Swedish, German, and Norwegian.
- You open the German version and manually change some wording.
- Later, you update your source content and retranslate.
- The German edits you made stay in place and are not replaced by the new translation.
If you retranslate with Replace existing translations turned on, those edits will be overwritten. Only use this if you want to start fresh. This is important to understand if different people work on different markets, as each person's edits in their market are protected unless this option is checked.
Best practices
- Start with one market. If you're new to this workflow, translate a single market first to see how Bonnie handles your content, then scale up.
- Consider text in images. Text that appears on images is not currently translated. If your campaigns include important text in images, you may need to handle those manually or update the image files separately.
Troubleshooting
I want to retranslate, but I'm worried about losing my edits. Your manual edits in specific markets are protected and won't be overwritten unless you check Replace existing translations. To be cautious, use Specific marketing groups and only retranslate the markets you haven't manually edited.
