Setting up Bonnie campaign translation - BETA

While we have conducted rigorous testing, beta features could contain issues, bugs, or glitches. Be prepared for occasional disruptions, and report any issues to help us at Voyado to refine the functionality of the app.

Bonnie can translate your campaign content directly in Design Studio, keeping your brand voice and translation rules consistent across all markets. Before you can start translating campaigns, you need to configure your brand voice and translation rules in Config Hub. This is a one-time setup per market, but you can return and adjust it at any time.

How it works

Bonnie's translation feature has three key components:

Brand voice: Bonnie learns how your brand communicates by analyzing either your previous campaign emails or your website. You can also add your own description of tone of voice. This helps translations adapt your tone and style to each market, not just translate words literally.

Translation rules: You can define a glossary of terms that should always translate a specific way, or never translate at all, like product names or brand terms. These are strict rules. Bonnie applies them exactly as you define them.

Conversational refinement: After Bonnie translates your content, you can chat with it to make adjustments, for example to make the tone more formal, use a specific word, or adjust phrasing for a particular market.

Prerequisites

  • Access to Voyado Engage with Design Studio enabled
  • Extended AI as an add-on
  • Marketing Groups set up for each market and language you want to support
  • Access to Config Hub. If you don't have Config Hub access, contact your CSM or support to request it.

Step 1: Set up brand voice

You set up brand voice for each market or language separately. If you have multiple markets with different tones, configure each one individually.

  1. Go to Config Hub.
  2. In the left menu, go to Language & tone rules under Markets.
  3. Click Language & tone rules.
  4. Select the market or language you want to configure.

A dialog will open where you can define your brand voice for this market. You have three ways to set it up:

Option A: Analyze your past emails

If you've sent campaigns before in Design Studio, Bonnie can analyze them to learn your tone. We recommend this if you have earlier sendouts from Design Studio.

  1. Click Generate tone of voice.
  2. Choose Analyze sendouts.
  3. Bonnie will scan your previous emails and suggest tone characteristics.
  4. Review the suggestions. You can edit the text directly in the text field if you want to adjust or add more details.
  5. Click Save.

Analysis takes a few minutes. The more emails Bonnie analyzes, the better it understands your style.

Option B: Scan your ecom

If you're new to Design Studio or don't have past emails to analyze, Bonnie can scan your website per market to learn your tone.

  1. Click Generate tone of voice.
  2. Click Scan ecom.
  3. Enter the URL of your market's website, for example your Swedish or German website.
  4. Click Scan website.
  5. Review the tone characteristics Bonnie suggests. You can edit the text directly if you want to refine it.
  6. Click Save.

Scanning takes a few minutes.

Option C: Start from scratch

If you prefer to write your own tone of voice instructions, open each market and type directly into the text field. Be specific about how you want to sound. Include examples of words you use, the formality level, and any key phrases that matter to your brand.

Refining your brand voice

You can always return to Config Hub and refine the generated brand voice in the text field. The better your brand voice is configured, the better your translations will be. If translations don't feel right, review your brand voice rules and consider re-analyzing or scanning a different part of your website.

Step 2: Set up translation rules (glossary)

Translation rules let you lock in exactly how certain terms should translate. This is useful for product names, brand terminology, or specific words you want to keep consistent across all markets.

Add a term to your glossary

  1. In the same Language & tone rules dialog, go to the Glossary section.
  2. Click + Add term.
  3. Enter the original term, for example "Buy now", and write exactly how it should translate, for example "Shoppa nu" in Swedish.
  4. Click Save.

Glossary entries are strict. Bonnie will always translate these terms exactly as you've defined them, with no flexibility or variation. Use this for words that must stay consistent.

Apply to all markets

If all your markets share the same glossary terms, use Apply to all to save time. If a specific market needs different translation rules, open each market to set or adjust specific entries.

Troubleshooting

I don't have access to Config Hub. Contact your CSM or support team to request access. You'll need this to set up brand voice and translation rules.

My brand voice doesn't feel right. Go back to Config Hub to review and refine your settings for each market.

A term keeps translating wrong even though I added it to the glossary. Check that your glossary term exactly matches the term in your content. If the issue persists, contact support.
