Automation: Wallet card added

The Wallet card added trigger activates when a member adds their digital wallet card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Use this trigger to reward members for downloading their card, for example with bonus points, a welcome voucher, or a challenge checkpoint.

Prerequisites

  • Digital Wallet is configured and active in your Engage environment.
  • The reward you want to send (points, voucher, or challenge) is set up in Engage.

Setting up the automation

Step 1: Create a new automation

  1. Navigate to Automations and click Create new automation.
  2. Name your automation, for example Digital Wallet – Card added reward.
  3. Select Wallet card added as the trigger.

Step 2: Configure entry criteria

  1. Open the Entry criteria.
  2. Select the card that should trigger the automation.
  3. Set entry frequency to Once per contact.
Always set entry frequency to Once per contact to ensure members only receive the reward once, even if they add the card to multiple devices.

Step 3: Add your reward

Click + and select the activity that matches your reward:

  • Bonus points – Select Point transaction and set the points amount.
  • Welcome voucher – Select Assign promotion and choose the promotion.
  • Challenge checkpoint – Select Challenge checkpoint and choose the relevant checkpoint.

Confirm the reward with a push notification while the member is actively engaged with their new card.

  1. Click + and select Send push notification.
  2. Write a short message, for example: Welcome! You've earned 100 bonus points for adding your card.

Step 5: Activate

Review all steps and click Activate.

Trigger: Wallet card added → Once per contact
↓
Activity: Award 100 bonus points
↓
Push notification: "You've earned 100 points — your card is ready to use!"
