Segmentation based on email activity (open/click)

Different segments can be created to gain deeper insight into the number of contacts who opened or clicked an email. Within the Targeting module, several criteria are available to filter on different email activity. This article contains examples of segments and explains the difference between these criteria.

Email activity within a specific time period

To filter on contacts who have opened, clicked, or unsubscribed from an email within a specific time period, use the Delivery Status & Action criterion. This criterion allows you to filter based on delivery status (delivered, soft bounced, hard bounced, or blocked) or email activity (opened, clicked, or unsubscribed) within a selected number of days, weeks, or months.

This segment filters contacts based on activity within the selected time period, without taking specific emails into account.

Email opens or clicks for specific emails

Segments based on opens or clicks for a specific email allow you to review the number of contacts for whom that activity was registered for the selected email. Both manual sendouts and sendouts in an active or inactive automation can be filtered.

A separate criterion is also available for Not Opened an Email. To create an inclusive query rather than an exclusive one, this criterion is useful for filtering contacts who have not opened a specific email.

The Email category refers to the Classic Email Editor, while Sendout Email relates to Design Studio. Emails created in each editor can be found under the corresponding category.
