The Elevate Market Override feature gives you greater control over which Elevate market is used in Connected Recommendations. By enabling this setting, you can override the default market tied to a marketing group and instead select which Elevate market Connected Recommendations should retrieve products and recommendations from. This is especially useful when working with multiple brands or sub-brands, helping you tailor recommendations more precisely to your campaign needs.
Prerequisites
Before using Elevate Market Override, ensure that:
- You have access to Connected: Elevate in Config Hub.
- Elevate markets are properly set up and linked to marketing groups.
- You have permissions to manage configuration settings.
Setting it up
To enable or disable Elevate Market Override:
- Go to Connected: Elevate > Configuration.
- Locate the Elevate market override setting.
- Toggle Elevate Market Override on or off.
Enabled
The Marketing group behavior dropdown is added to the Connected Recommendations data sources in Design Studio. You can manually choose an Elevate market for each send, overriding the default market assigned via the contact's marketing group.
Disabled
The system automatically uses the default Elevate market based on the contact's marketing group. Manual override is not available.
How it works
When Elevate Market Override is enabled, you gain flexibility in how markets are applied for product recommendations.
In Engage, the sender can select a specific Elevate market at sendout level instead of relying on the predefined mapping from the contact's marketing group. This allows you to tailor campaigns to specific regions, brands, or business needs without changing the underlying data structure.
In Design Studio, the feature extends into Connected Recommendations. For data sources such as Top Selling Products and Contextual Products, a new Marketing group behavior dropdown becomes available.
By default, the dropdown reflects the Elevate market mapped to the current marketing group. When override is enabled, you can manually select a different Elevate market. This is particularly useful if you want to:
- Showcase products from a specific sub-brand
- Test different market assortments
- Reuse modules across different campaigns with consistent overrides
Once configured, modules can be saved with the selected override, making them easy to reuse without reconfiguration.
How to use Elevate Market Override in Design Studio
- Open Design Studio.
- Add a Connected Recommendations data source such as Top Selling Products or Contextual Products.
- Locate the Marketing group behavior dropdown.
- Keep the default selection or choose a different Elevate market to override it.
- Save the module for reuse if needed.
Example: Multiple brands in one Engage tenant
Imagine a retailer has two brands, Brand A and Brand B, managed within the same Voyado Customer Engagement tenant.
The retailer has configured two Voyado Product Discovery markets:
- Brand A – Sweden
- Brand B – Sweden
The marketing group Sweden is mapped by default to Brand A – Sweden. This means Connected Recommendations will normally use Brand A’s market, including its product assortment and recommendation results.
For a campaign promoting Brand B, however, the sender wants recommendations to use Brand B’s assortment instead. With Product Discovery Market Override enabled, they can select Brand B – Sweden in the Marketing group behavior dropdown in Design Studio.
The campaign can therefore continue to use the same Customer Engagement marketing group, while Connected Recommendations retrieve products from the appropriate Product Discovery market.
This is useful when the distinction between brands, sub-brands, or assortments exists in Product Discovery but does not need to be represented by separate marketing groups in Customer Engagement.
Example: Using market override across multiple localizations
The same approach can be used when a campaign for Brand B spans several countries.
Suppose the sendout includes the marketing groups for Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. Normally, Connected Recommendations would automatically use the Product Discovery (Elevate) market mapped to each recipient’s marketing group. For this Brand B campaign, however, you want to override those mappings and use Brand B’s dedicated markets instead.
Create one sendout containing the relevant marketing groups, then use Localization to create a localized version for each market:
| Localization | Product Discovery market override |
|---|---|
| Sweden – Swedish | Brand B – Sweden |
| Norway – Norwegian | Brand B – Norway |
| Denmark – Danish | Brand B – Denmark |
In each localization, select the Connected Recommendations module and set the appropriate Product Discovery (Elevate) market.
The override applies only to the Connected Recommendations module. Other modules in the localization continue to use the settings associated with the recipient’s marketing group in Customer Engagement (Engage), such as product feeds, price and number formatting, and time zone.
Other settings in the Connected Recommendations module can be localized independently. For example, the Product Discovery market can differ between localizations while the recommendation type remains the same across all of them.
Before sending: If the email also contains static product content, verify that the assortment and currency match. Static product content can use the marketing group's product feed, while Connected Recommendations use the overridden Product Discovery market.
