This page describes how contacts are opted out from marketing email communication in Voyado Engage, and how different unsubscribe or spam actions update a contact's status. It also explains the meaning of Accepts Email and Blocked (strikethrough) and how these statuses impact email deliverability.
Contact status definitions
Accepts Email Indicates whether a contact is eligible to receive marketing email.
- True – Emails can be sent (unless restricted by consent filters).
- False – The contact has opted out of marketing communication.
Blocked (strikethrough email address) Indicates that the email address is blocked from receiving marketing email, regardless of other consents. This is typically triggered by hard bounces or spam complaints.
How different actions affect a contact's opt-in status
| Scenario | Accepts Email = False | Email blocked / strikethrough | Reachable by email | Status in contact card (Engage UI) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unsubscribe via Voyado email link | YES | YES | NO | Change history > Unsubscribed from email |
| Unsubscribe via native email client | YES | YES | NO | Change history > OneClick email unsubscribe |
| Marked as spam | YES | NO | NO | Change history > Spam reported |
| Hard bounce | YES | YES (red strikethrough) | NO | Messages > Hard bounce |
| Manual import | YES | NO | NO | N/A |
| API import | YES | NO | NO | Change history > Unsubscribed from email |
| Double opt-in (DOI) = False | Not affected | Not affected | YES | Consent tab > Double opt-in status |
Interaction with double opt-in
Unsubscribe or block actions do not modify a contact's Double Opt-In (DOI) status. A contact who has confirmed DOI will keep that status even after opting out of marketing communications.
