To welcome newly registered contacts and/or gather more data on new contacts, you can set up an automation using the trigger “New registered contact”. This article provides tips and recommendations on how you can work with a welcome flow.
The trigger “New registered contact” will only get triggered at the moment a new contact is registered in Engage. Contacts who convert to a different contact type are not considered new contacts and will not be included, as no new registration occurs.
Entry criteria
Start by setting the entry criteria to determine which new contacts should be able to enter the automation.
- Click New automation and choose New contact registered.
- Hoover over the trigger and click on the pencil.
- Decide which contact type(s) and recruitment channel(s) you would like to include in the entry criteria
- Set other criteria new contacts might have to fulfill.
Assign labels
Using labels in an automation is always a good practice. It allows you to easily identify contacts who have entered the flow. If the label is removed later in the flow, it can be used to segment contacts who are currently active within the flow.
Country-based or language-based communication
If you are active on different markets and want to tailor communication based on a contact's registered country or language, you can include a value split to filter by country code or language.
Consents
A welcome flow can also help identify the approved consents of newly registered contacts or be used as part of a double opt-in process to send a verification or double opt-in email. Here you can read more about working with double opt-in.
Welcome your new contacts
Give your new contacts a warm welcome by sending them communication that introduces your brand, highlights your loyalty program or offers a welcome gift in the form of a promotion.
