With segmentation for Challenges in Engage, you can create highly targeted groups of customers based on their activity in specific challenges. Whether you're running loyalty campaigns or reward programs, this helps you tailor communication, automate follow-ups, and reward the right behavior.
Where to find it
When building a segment, you'll now find a group of filters under “Challenges”. These options let you create rules that relate directly to how your customers interact with challenges.
Depending on whether you're filtering based on the customer themselves or their individual challenge participation, you’ll have access to different types of filters.
Segment by customer progress
These filters work when you want to target customers based on their overall challenge activity:
- Completed challenges
Target customers who have finished a certain number of challenges. You can choose to include only those who’ve completed at least one, more than a certain number, or exactly a specific amount. - Specific challenge activity
Build advanced segments by selecting a challenge and combining different filters related to that one. For example, you could find people who joined a specific challenge but haven’t completed it yet.
Segment by challenge participation details
These filters look at a customer's individual assignments in challenges. They let you zoom in on more specific details:
- Challenge name
Choose one or more specific challenges to include in your filter. - Completed checkpoints
Filter based on how far someone has progressed within a challenge. - Has completed the challenge
A simple yes/no filter that checks if a customer has finished the challenge. - Date of last checkpoint
Find contacts who earned a checkpoint recently—or those who haven't had activity in a while. - Completion date
Filter based on when a challenge was completed. - Challenge end date
Useful if you're planning to follow up after a campaign ends or want to exclude expired ones.
Common use cases
Here are a few examples of what you can do with these filters:
- Welcome new challenge participants
Send an email to everyone who just joined a specific challenge. - Remind slow progressors
Target people who joined but haven’t earned a checkpoint in the last two weeks. - Celebrate completions
Create a segment of everyone who completed a challenge and reward them with a special offer. - Follow up after campaign end
Reach out to participants from a recently ended challenge and ask for feedback.
