Cookies and other tracking techniques

Voyado Engage can in principle be used without any cookies or other tracking techniques. For the functionality described below, customers have the option to implement tracking techniques. When doing so, you as the company and data controller are responsible for obtaining consent for the tracking and fulfilling GDPR requirements.

Newsletters

Voyado Engage does not use cookies for newsletter sendouts. Customers do, however, have the option to track email open frequency. If this functionality is enabled, a tracking pixel is used on the client side.

It is the customer's choice whether to use this pixel or not. The benefits of using the pixel may be limited, since many email clients automatically open all emails by default, for example when scanning for spam.

If the pixel is used, you must ensure that you have consent for the tracking and that GDPR requirements are fulfilled, including providing customers with the correct information.

Abandoned cart and browser/product of interest

For the Abandoned Cart and Browser functionality, as well as the Product of Interest functionality, customers can either implement a script that uses cookies or use an API-based approach.

If the script option is used, it is considered a cookie implementation and the applicable legal requirements for cookie usage apply.

More information on how the Abandoned Cart and Browser functionality processes personal data can be found here.

Onsite messaging (Redeal)

For the onsite messaging component, previously called the Redeal component, local storage is used.

Unlike cookies, local storage is a client-side storage mechanism that is not transmitted with HTTP requests. However, similar legal requirements may still apply under ePrivacy regulations, so it should be treated accordingly.

More information on the processing of personal data for onsite messaging can be found here.
